Sixty generals
There is not one Tai Sui but sixty, one presiding over each year of the sexagenary cycle. Each has a name, a face and a history. The Tai Sui of 2027 丁未 governs the Year of the Goat.
To 犯太歲 — clash with the year’s Tai Sui — is traditionally held to bring instability, obstruction and unexpected expense. The remedy is 安太歲, settling the Tai Sui, performed at the turn of the lunar year.
Checking your standing
Whether you clash depends on your own Earthly Branch, not on a general rule of thumb. The 2027 checker works it out from your birth date and tells you which of the clash types, if any, applies to you.
Common questions
Which animals clash in 2027?
Goat, Ox, Rat and Dog are the traditional groups for 丁未. Run the check rather than relying on the list.
What does the rite involve?
Your name entered in the petition register, and the 安太歲 rite performed at the turn of the year.
Do I need to do it every year?
Only in years where your branch clashes. Most people, most years, do not.
